Jeffery Robert Frum

Jeffery Robert Frum ’12

When Pitzer College alumnus Jeffery Robert Frum ’12 was tragically killed in an accident mere months after graduation, his aunt, Mary Frances Jett, decided to direct her resources to establish the Jeffery Robert Frum ’12 Endowed Scholarship in his honor. In addition to a generous outright gift, Mary Fran pledged an additional contribution to Pitzer College in her living trust. Mary Fran passed away in August 2014.

Mary Fran and her nephew, Jeffery, were close from the start, according to family. During his time at Pitzer, Jeffery earned degrees in economics and environmental studies while also playing baseball for the Sagehens. He was admired for his positive and joyful attitude. Upon Jeffery’s death, Mary Fran came up with the idea to establish the scholarship in his name so that he would be remembered and honored at Pitzer for generations to come. The scholarship helps students who may otherwise not be able to attend Pitzer College fulfill their dreams of pursuing their college education at this unique and world-class institution.

A scholar, scientist and professor, Mary Fran understood the importance and value of an excellent education. She was described as a woman who pursued academic excellence, approached life with intellectual curiosity, showed compassion toward others and displayed a deep love for her family. Mary Fran’s bequest to Pitzer College to establish the Jeffery Robert Frum ’12 Endowed Scholarship ensures that the life of her nephew will be forever honored and that future generations of students are given opportunities to explore their passions at Pitzer.
